A substitute for regular unleaded 91

Manufactured by BP Australia, Opal fuel is a direct substitute for regular unleaded fuel with an octane rating of 91, so it is safe to mix with the regular unleaded 91 already in your tank.

Opal fuel conforms to the National Fuels Quality Standards Act 2000. This fuel standard provides the legislative basis for national fuel quality and fuel quality information standards for Australia. All fuels sold in Australia must comply with this fuel standard and all vehicles which are manufactured or imported to Australia must be able to satisfactorily operate on these standards.

Priced at an equivalent rate to regular unleaded 91

Opal fuel is subsidised under the Australian Government's Petrol Sniffing Prevention Programme. This allows Opal fuel to be priced at an equivalent local rate to regular unleaded 91.

And has been proven effective

Opal fuel has replaced regular unleaded 91 at selected sites throughout Central Australia. Since the launch of Opal fuel in 2005 overĀ 2.4 million fills have been sold across Central Australia.*
